We are delighted to have two local artists displaying their work alongside us at our gallery on Staithe Street.

Pia trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and had a wonderful fifteen years as a professional actor. She then moved into publishing; academia; corporate training & running a drama department. Her last role was PA to the Executive Chairman at Glyndebourne & perhaps being surrounded by exquisite music and fantastic productions  reminded her how much she missed being directly involved in the creative act. Whilst at Glyndebourne she began a diploma in oils, in Norfolk. Her previous work had comprised monoprints & oils but a dedicated year of study led her to risk moving to Norfolk and becoming a professional artist.

Her subject matter is varied, dictating to a large extent, her approach.  She also carries the idea of palimpsest with her, digging down, uncovering, then, either using layers to partly conceal or scraping back to find what's hidden.  This is a mental process but of course also the process of oil painting, so it's a medium she loves.

Kel takes his inspiration from a life spent in Wells, enjoying all it has to offer. Using birch wood silhouette in a contemporary frame he has tried to capture the big skies, beautiful beach with its iconic beach huts and changing coast in this artwork .
